My little min pin got attacked by a coyote this morning, and I'll probably have to take care of her for a couple days.
Basically, I was about to leave for school, and Phobie had been outside for a while, then all the sudden Diesel started freaking out, he was growling, barking, yelping, slamming against all the doors, and I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Then dad ran out of the bathroom and said "Did you hear that?!?" and I said "No, what?" and he said "Well I just heard a huge yelp outside....Is Phobie in your room?" Sure enough, I checked and she wasn't. I already had a ton of "oh shits" running through my mind because I KNEW it was a coyote (we've been having issues), and dad had just opened the door to go outside when Diesel knocked him over and took off. Dad ran to catch up with him, and Diesel was in total "Back the f*** off" mode. He was down real low to the ground and started growling, which gave Poob just enough time to scramble up off the ground and run towards me so I could get her in the house. By the time I got back out, Diesel had taken back off after it, hell bent on finding it. It took us about 10 minutes to find him, and in that time he'd almost ran a mile, still looking for the coyote. We walked in and the second you walked in the house you could smell blood. Everywhere. I found Poob on my bed, poor girl looked like she'd totally given up. She was bit in the neck (bad), on the stomach, and on the butt. Dad said when he was out there it was trying to suffocate her. I know you're probably thinking "Well, why didn't you go save her?" well, this coyote we have issues with constantly. He's huge. Bigger than Diesel, and Diesel is big. And he isn't afraid of humans. He could easily take one, and he would too. He's walked right up to our doors, and he's stood 10 feet away from my grandma before, just watching to see if he could take her. Poob had lost a lot of blood by the time we got to the vet, and they said she would definitely be dead if Diesel hadn't gotten there in time. She has to stay at the vet all day, and we can bring her home around 4 or 5, but she's in really bad shape.
I'm so lucky to have my Dieselbug, I'm not ready to say goodbye to my Poob yet, and not like this.
You know whats funny? When we first brought Diesel home, I asked him to protect her, and he certainly has. He almost didn't let us take her, he was so worried. He wouldn't leave her side, and he's pretty freaked out now because we came home "Poobless", he's looking for her everywhere. Poor guy :/
Anyways, I'm hoping my Poob will be ok
